My product is a luxury, bespoke cocktail cabinet exhibiting the exploration of straw marquetry to add colour and presence to any room. I was first introduced to the bespoke side of furniture design whilst on my placement year, and simply fell in love. I wanted to explore a rare luxury finish known as straw marquetry. The process requires skills and plenty of patience however the results are very rewarding. With straw marquetry available in so many colours, it encouraged me to design a statement piece of furniture such as a drinks cabinet. Light plays a key part as it shines beautifully off the pressed straw. Therefore designing and making a cabinet that contains lights, mirrors and glass would encourage the light to reflect and bounce off of the straw marquetry.
