For me, design is about the ideas, forming connections between seemingly irrelevant bits of information in order to fully understand and address a problem. My designs focus on pushing forwards, with an inherent consideration of Cradle to Cradle principles, whilst always trusting the process.
Hyph
To address issues caused by the uneven loading of trains, HYPH tiles determine the quantity of passengers and available space on a train’s carriages. Each tile comprises a piezoresistive pressure sensitive matrix, held together by an outer shell of mycelium fungi, to facilitate minimal end-of-life environmental impact.
Nia
NIA is a reusable sharps bin, universally compatible with hollow bore needles, designed to address rising rates of sharps injuries in nurses, after the procedure, during disposal. Designed for sub-optimum conditions, the product reduces the risk of needle sticks by facilitating on-site access to safe disposal, where the internal mechanism isolates the needle hub from the barrel.
