BA Product Design
Emi Dada
I've always been an avid doodler, whether it be small sketches or product ideations. Growing up, I was a regular visitor of the local arts centre; often volunteering with the pottery and woodworking classes. This constant exposure to art and design across lots of mediums gives me a huge range of inspiration to pull from in my work.
Iceberg Island
The Iceberg Island's conception was partially inspired by my personal interest in interior design, a passion partially developed due to personal home renovation projects currently in development.
Its design was developed with the intention to allow users to utilise the island for different rituals, whether it be working, cooking or hosting - the Island is designed to bring any and all users together.
Tree of Light
Since developing an interest in lighting design, I felt well-suited to the LIA?s lighting brief. Almost instantaneously, I was inspired by the biophilia and flexible lighting solutions trends. From this, the Tree of Light was developed with the desire to create a flexible modular lighting system that?s design is inspired by apple trees.
Made from a choice of premium materials such as recycled oak, bronze and borosilicate glass, the Tree of Light encourages its users to interact with the tree, or to utilise the portable apple lights that can be used to illuminate other areas of one?s living space. When hung on the tree, the apple lights can be used to modify how much light is omitted into the space, and when needed, can be docked on the tree base for inducted charging, thus reducing the need to frequently replace bulbs or batteries thanks to the rechargeable LED lights.
