Tom
My self-directed project is a tribute to my grandfather's remarkable life, encapsulating two pivotal moments that shaped his journey. Inspired by his victory over the champion boxer of the army aboard the HMS Vanguard in Gibraltar during his time in the Royal Navy, I infused elements of boxing glove construction into the design of the lounge chair, symbolising strength, resilience, and triumph. Additionally, drawing from the comfort and timeless design of my grandfather's old Ercol chair, I prioritised ergonomics to ensure a harmonious blend of form and function. Through this project, I aim to honour my grandfather's legacy by creating a piece that not only celebrates his achievements but also provides a meaningful and comfortable space for reflection and relaxation. It's more than just a chair; it's a narrative woven with memories and gratitude for a life well lived.
Stroll
Stroll is not just a bench; it?s a statement. Inspired by the fluidity of motion in nature, I set out to create a piece that transcends the conventional boundaries of furniture. What sets Stroll apart is its four-legged structure, reminiscent of an animal in motion. The front two legs are carefully angled, giving the bench a dynamic appearance that is both graceful and engaging. Stroll is available in two timbers ? douglas fir and ash. The use of these high-quality materials not only ensures durability but also adds a touch of natural elegance to any space.
