TRYFAN
Inspired by the need for sustainable energy solutions on the go, Tryfan is a portable wind turbine designed to harness wind power efficiently. Utilizing a Savonius turbine design, Tryfan captures wind energy, storing it in a 12,000 mAh battery equipped with a bespoke MPPT PCB for optimal efficiency. Crafted from extruded ABS, Tryfan is not only durable but also waterproof, featuring waterproof USBC ports for added protection. Its lightweight and functional design make it perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, while its hinged turbine allows for compact storage, fitting seamlessly into walking bags. Moreover, its versatility shines through with multiple bases for various environments. Throughout the design process, emphasis was placed on streamlining functionality, ensuring that Tryfan delivers reliable renewable energy wherever it's needed.
Suilven
Suilven, a floor standing lamp is designed for those who work within a hybrid role, using their home as a workspace. This idea was influenced by the sharp increase in home working since Covid. The aim for this project was to produce a stylish floor lamp that enabled the user to alter the client?s environment, from a workspace to a relaxed atmosphere. This is done through two controls, one controlling the brightness and the other the temperature of the light, allowing the user to seamlessly interchange from a professional setting into a cosy aesthetic.
The form of this lamp was influenced through the movements of minimalism and industrial design. The aim being to create a smooth streamline shape, which becomes more complicated the closer you look. This is shown through the long curved shape, intertwined with an intricate frame.
