Jaz Paviour
I am a multidisciplinary designer-maker mainly working in ceramics, textiles, illustration, and woodwork. My key inspirations are British wildlife and folklore, which regularly feature in my designs and have informed the development of my small business, Muddy Pixie.
Pixie Picnic Tea Kit
The 'Pixie Picnic Tea Kit' is designed to encourage individuals to feel pixie-like as they take a moment to relax and connect to nature; sipping herbal tea from a flower cup in their local green space. The kit features a ceramic tea set based on native British plants including: a buttercup teacup, clover saucer, and acorn lid -to aid infusion. Additionally, the kit includes a clover blanket which easily folds into a bag to securely carry the set. The kit was designed as Jaz Paviour's debut ceramic set for their homeware business, Muddy Pixie.
Lilypad Ottoman
The Lilypad Ottoman is a playful seat which aims to bring vibrance and joy to transitional spaces such as office break-out spaces and airports. The ottoman seats up to three people with a small tabletop space for drinks. The placement of its legs indicate three zones to sit and the outward angle of these sitting spots creates the illusion of greater personal space by lessening peripheral distractions.
The Lilypad Ottoman tackles issues of sustainability through its use of regenerative natural materials and considered structure; this enables all components to be easily separated and recycled or composted. The cushion is composed of coconut fibre stuffing and wool wadding in place of harmful polyethylene foams. Eco-board was chosen for the base-board as a carbon-negative, biodegradable alternative to MDF. Wood was chosen for the ottoman?s frame as it?s carbon-storing, biodegradable, and brings a sense of warmth to an environment.
