Maximilien Winandy
My passion as a designer is for turning ideas into reality, particularly through tech-focused products which blend physical and digital experiences. I aim for user-centric designs that are both beautiful and functional, with a goal of shaping more positive relationships with technology.
The Shortcut Keyboard
The Shortcut Keyboard represents a new approach to e-learning for software proficiency, mainly focusing on applications like Adobe. Driven by advanced AI technology, the keyboard modernises the learning experience by enhancing users' awareness of hotkeys, thus facilitating effortless mastery of complex software tools. The inspiration comes from understanding individuals' challenges in navigating and mastering software, especially with the abundance of hotkeys available in software programs. To address this, extensive research and systems thinking were employed, aiming to create a keyboard with a digital experience that not only simplifies the learning curve but also personalises the experience for individual users. By curating content and providing tailored guidance based on user proficiency levels and preferences, it ensures that learners are effectively guided through an engaging journey towards software mastery. Whether in the education sector or for individual users seeking to enhance their skills, The Shortcut Keyboard aims to improve the path to proficiency, making software accessible and intuitive for new learners and expanding intermediate users' knowledge.
Orbit
Orbit represents my passion for IoT devices and consumer technology. Inspired by the increasing prevalence of remote work, I set out to create a solution that improves work-life balance. The lighting companion incorporates three modes: "Work Mode" enables users to effectively track work sessions and enhance productivity with the Flowtime Technique, while the "Breathe" feature offers a quick stress-relief session when needed. "Task Mode" provides excellently diffused lighting for hands-on tasks. Orbit's portability enables it to be carried anywhere, enabling its use for various applications, including as a portable speaker or even a cooking timer.
Inspired by a traditional round clock, the striking torus shape adapts to the selected mode following user needs. The torus design not only serves as a visual reminder of the passing time but also places the interactive display in the centre of the device. Angling and lifting the torus from its base allows the user to switch easily from "Work Mode" to "Task Mode" while providing diffused lighting to reduce eye strain. Based on the Flexible Solutions trend, Orbit's goal is to make working from home smarter, stress-free, and more enjoyable.
